Everything at your doorstep – The most beautiful destinations in the region Alpe di Siusi
Wild People Cave
Perhaps you will discover this cave along your hiking trail. According to a popular legend, it directly connects to the basement of a tavern in Bulla via a mysterious passage. Which tavern? Find it out!
Herb Garden – Farm Pflegerhof
On a steep hill close to the borough of S. Oswaldo, just below the village of Siusi allo Sciliar, you may find South Tyrol’s first and most varied herb farm. More than 500 different plants prosper here – ranging from pineapple sage to lemon verbena. It is a pure pleasure to visit this fragrant oasis and to discover the many medicinal and culinary herbs. Of course, there are many more farm products available here.
Nature Park House Sciliar-Catinaccio
In Lavina Bianca, at the beginning of the Ciamin Valley, the Nature Park House Sciliar-Catinaccio is located in an ancient sawmill. It provides graphic information about the geology of Mount Sciliar, but also about the formation of the Dolomites in general. A visit will surely enrich your hiking tour in the nature park.
Witches’ Sulphur Source Satria
The Alpe di Siusi lives of its myths and tales of witches. You may dive into this world of mythology, simply by following the barefoot path “Witches’ Sources” on the Alpe di Siusi and visiting the tree sulphur sources in the local swamp – the sources feature figurines carved from wood. It is truly a magical place!
Fie & Castle Presule
Fiè allo Sciliar is a picturesque spa village, and it is well worth a visit. Fiè offers many interesting churches and chapels that bear witness to a long religious tradition and feature splendid artistic decorations. The true highlight is the castle of Presule, dating back to the Renaissance period. We recommend a guided tour.
Castelrotto
The idyllic village is the starting point of many hiking and biking tours. Three times a year, music events take place here, and in December, you may visit the Castelrotto Christmas Market. In the district of S. Oswaldo, there is the Farmer’s Museum, where you may learn interesting facts about the local customs. Do not miss a visit to the local baroque church. Furthermore, the ivy-clad ruins of Castel Rovereto are a romantic spot that can be visited all year round.
Castle Trostburg / Castel Forte
On a rocky promontory, just above the entrance to the Gardena Valley, the Castle Trostburg / Castel Forte rises. The bold late Gothic fortification has a lot more to offer than just a great view.
